Assembly
Carving the heel has been the biggest challenge for me as I have no carving experience. No time like the present to learn a new skill!!!!
Assembly
Here you can see than I have bent the sides (or ribs) and let them into the neck in the Spanish style. The neck is partially carved. The peg head is basically finished with the exception of some fine tuning in the form of sanding a bit smoother. The neck is overlarge at this point to make it easier to install the fretboard later. The end block (the opposite end from the neck) and the linings (The bent strips glued to the inside of the sides) are cut from mahogany. I bent sixteen strips of magohany that I machined to .040 inch to create the linings. The role of the linings is to provide adequate surface area for gluing the sound board and the back to the sides.
